In August 2021, Lisk Mainnet v2 successfully completed the migration to Lisk Mainnet v3. This comprises the biggest protocol change to ever occur on the Lisk blockchain and marks the beginning of a whole new era for the Lisk network. The entire Lisk protocol is now upgraded to be more efficient, more scalable, more decentralized, more secure, and cheaper to be used.

To celebrate the new Lisk Mainnet v3, the Lisk Foundation invites you to Lisk’s second online hackathon - HackOnLisk 2.

Participants are expected to build a blockchain application with the Lisk SDK as part of one of the 2 given categories: DeFi OR GameFi.

DeFi applications can include but are not limited to:

  • DEX

  • Lending

  • Stablecoin

GameFi applications can include but are not limited to:

  • Blockchain Games

  • Collectibles

Never heard of Lisk or the Lisk SDK, but you would like to develop a project/business with blockchain technology, and you know Javascript and/or Typescript?

  • That’s already a pretty good start! Besides a user-friendly SDK and good documentation, each team can request a personal mentor to help with open questions or problems that arise along the way.

Always had a cool idea in mind, but waiting until the Lisk SDK is mature enough to build it?

  • This is your event! The Lisk SDK v5.1.4 allows you to build a blockchain application with all important features that make it ready to be plugged into the Lisk sidechain ecosystem, once the interoperability is implemented in the Lisk Mainnet.

Don’t have any idea, but would you like to join a team?

  • That’s awesome! You are needed! A lot of teams have awesome ideas and big plans and are happy to get help in order to achieve their goal in the given timeline. Find out who is looking for teams by joining Lisk.chat by checking the dedicated #hackonlisk channel (#team-search).

Already have a team and a cool idea/ existing project for the hackathon?

  • Lucky you! If you haven’t participated in the Lisk Builders program before, you are allowed to apply with your already existing project and to finalize, extend or update it as part of the hackathon, and earn a little prize money along the way (see prizes).

  • If you search for additional team members in your team, make sure to check out the #team-search channel under #hackonlisk on Lisk.chat. Here you can post a message, giving information about your projects and the required skills for your team members.
  • If you were part of the Lisk Builders Program, Lisk Grant Program, or participated in the first hackathon (HackOnLisk), please do not submit a project you have already completed.

Please note, prizes will be paid in LSK tokens

Requirements

  • The blockchain application must be developed on its own blockchain using the latest version of the Lisk SDK v5.1.4.

  • The complete code of the application needs to be public on GitHub. Provide a URL to your open-source code repository for judging and testing. Include a link to your repo hosting the code and all deployment files and testing instructions needed for testing your project in a README.md file.

    • MIT

  • The blockchain application has to be delivered including a user interface.

  • A short feedback paragraph about your experience building a blockchain application with the Lisk SDK.

  • Include a video (maximum of 10 minutes) that demonstrates your submission. Videos must be uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, or Facebook Video and made public.Videos will be uploaded to Lisk’s Official YouTube for voting purposes. The video should include the following points:

    • Introduce the blockchain application and the idea behind it.

    • Introduce yourself and/or your team.

    • Include a demo of your working application.
